Why Do I Need Branding

Filed under: Branding, Design & Branding, Why Do I Need Branding — Baytech Web Design @ 7:19 pm

Let’s look at the concept of “branding” in terms of a business Website. It is as important as a company’s identity.  In a sense, branding and identity are of commensurable value. A Website, such as Baytech Web Design, that accentuates brand awareness will help a business retain its customers. But in order to keep customers loyal and stay ahead of the competition, there are a few factors that need to be defined. As a business, it is imperative to understand your market, your competitors and especially your own business.

Branding is a defined strategy. Who is your target audience? Knowing who your key followers are will clarify what they will associate with your brand. It is only then that you can keep an edge on your competitors.

Evaluating business goals and analyzing the competition are two additional critical points that must be determined in detail in order to establish brand identity. When all of these elements are carefully and thoroughly studied, then they can be built into a Website that builds brand awareness and brand equity successfully.

Stay ahead of the competition! The design & branding team at Baytech Web Design is known for excellence in design and branding solutions.

Old Tricks Don’t – and Won’t – Work Anymore

Filed under: Branding, Old Tricks Don’t - and Won’t - Work Anymore — Baytech Web Design @ 9:09 am

Branding trends have needed to change for some time – especially when what you used to do is not working any more. It could be simply that people are looking at the ads a little more carefully because they want to make sure that their hard earned money at this time is spent in a wiser way than before. Anyway, change is necessary.

Probably one of the biggest changes that you need to make in your brand identity is to avoid ads that simply try to pull emotional strings. People have seen through this and it has only served to make them sick – very sick – of those who tried it.

Another problem has become apparent when some have tried to tie some well-known personality in with a product or organization. While it may have sounded good at the time, you will have to make sure that that individual does indeed have the same values as those you are trying to make people believe you have – or it will backfire on you. The result will be that people will know that your words are only hollow.

People have always been impressed by a good deal – unfortunately, there aren’t many around any more that are not self-serving. People have felt for a long time that businesses have burned them time and again. Start caring for people in your ads and treat them the way you want to be treated – and that will make you stand out in a day when everyone else is being perceived as a sham.

Sure, every business wants to make money. That will not change. The problem comes when companies claim that they are out for the good of the people and then their actions or product proves otherwise. Unfortunately, for those that do this, they are also building their online branding, too – and it will be hard to erase later.

Baytech Web Design is ready to help you develop effective branding strategies that work in today’s market. Although the market is changing, your company can still be a winner in it. Talk to us today for proven branding strategies.

Brands Are Replacing Value

Filed under: Branding, Brands Are Replacing Value, Design & Branding — Baytech Web Design @ 10:53 am

Getting your branding right has been important before, but it may be becoming even more important that your brand is definitely connected to value, as well. A company’s brand identity needs to be equated with value, but many seem to be ignoring this point today.

The two things cannot really be separated. Customers buy based on brand recognition, but when a brand starts to lower its value, then brand loyalty may not be strong enough to keep them returning. Companies today are working to change their brand, or improve it, but some see it as something flexible – an innovation along with their products. For this reason, their brand is flexible and may not figure into quality product development, service, or pr.

What people need to see are products and service that consistently deliver – in spite of what the ads or company’s reputation has been in the past. Adding real worthwhile values to the company’s value system will also help the company to present an honest image, too – and keep it.

Changing times that are affecting everyone’s wallet should not mean a cheaper product or service. Instead, continue to deliver sound products and the best service and it will enable your brand to continue to be effective – and grow. A good branding strategy needs to continue to be based on the idea that the company’s name and products can be trusted – at all times.

Out-of-the-box Layouts

Filed under: Out-of-the-box Layouts, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 10:24 am

Somebody had to do it. While many of the other designs talked about so far have largely been copies of media forms elsewhere, somebody had to go and do something new. These are the out-of-the-box layouts of Web design.

Out-of-the-box layouts were inevitable. It really was just a matter to time. Some have done well with some amazingly good designs, but others’ attempts are probably going to hurt them.

When going with a new style that has not been done before, you have to realize that not all new Website design is going to be a hit. This could be for several reasons, but the bottom line is that you are taking a gamble when you try something so new it has not yet been proven – or disproven.

The good thing is that it won’t take long to see the effects your design has on the public. Will they stay longer than before? Will they leave without visiting other pages? Will more people buy?, etc. You will certainly want to watch your metrics closely to determine if you need to switch back to your old design in a hurry. And hopefully, you have made a backup copy.

The better out-of-the-box designs retain many of the valuable features of a more traditional Website. The colors still match, they still have a high level of ease for Website navigation, and usability is good. If you are interested in trying one, you will need to experiment and you do want to keep some of the more traditional elements mixed in with your new design. In other words, it probably will not help you yet to do something totally radical.

Baytech Web Design can help you develop a quality Web design of your choice. Our proven experts can make it and put it together for you. Talk to us today about your needs and have it up and running soon.

Carousels (slideshows)

Filed under: Carousels (slideshows), Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 3:41 pm

One more feature that is rapidly becoming more popular in Web design is the arrival of carousels. These may be one of the more practical innovations out of all of them because they actually can make Website Navigation a little easier.

Carousels provide the visitor with slideshow presentations. Each slide provides a picture of the Webpage or of a special feature on it – such as an individual or story.

The carousel slides can rotate either as if they were in a circle, with the nearest one being the largest and usually in the center. Another style simply has a few slides horizontally aligned, and arrows on the right or left of them enables the viewer to see more pictures.

This ease of navigation provides the user with the opportunity to need to do less mouse clicks or scrolling to see what is on the page. Clicking on the slides will take them to the desired page.

An advantage of the carousel for navigation is that it focuses the user’s eyes on the content and makes it easy to see what is there. Pictures are worth more than a thousand words, and they enable them to scan for what they want quickly. It makes the Website design very practical and keeps it simple, too, for the user.

Baytech Web Design can help you put carousels on your Website – or any other new and hi-tech feature you want. Our team of experts has provided quality Web design for companies of all sizes. Talk to us today and let us show you what we can do for you.

Selling Today Requires More than Just a “For Sale” Sign

Filed under: Selling Today Requires More than Just a "For Sale" Sign, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 11:08 am

As the economy seems to be continuing to pick up, businesses need to be careful about trying to use the old rules of online branding. They may not work as before. Instead, consumers seem to have a new mindset that you would do well to pay attention to in all your branding efforts.

The reason behind the call for new branding strategies is simply that people are not as inclined to spend their hard-earned money as before. They have had to be conservative in their spending for a while, and that attitude is still lingering very strongly. You can probably expect it to last well into next year.

Even items that are clearly marked as being on sale are not disappearing very fast. This reveals that consumers are more reluctant than ever to part with their money. Things that used to work very well are now proving to be much less effective with people who are fearful that tight times could return, or remain, over the winter months.

It seems that people need to have a good reason now as to why they should make the purchase. Your Web branding now must clearly identify the value that can be gained with your product or services. Cuteness or popularity is probably not enough.

For products that have little value of their own, this could easily spell trouble in those markets. Manufacturers may want to ensure that they develop some more useful lines of products to ensure their own ability to survive. A strong branding identity will need to be developed to help offset the downturn.

Baytech Web Design is ready to help you develop a powerful brand identity to help you get through these more difficult times. A good brand can help you survive. Talk to us today about how we can use our proven branding strategies to help you.

The Magazine Look

Filed under: The Magazine Look, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 1:14 pm

The style of magazines and other print works has hit the Internet on various Webpages. Of course, it was just a matter of time.

Primarily, this rather new Website design style seems to be prevalent especially among blogs and giving them a look of being current, newsy, and popular – just like a magazine. Quotes, graphics, and lines also enhance the appearance. Fonts of different colors also add to the look, along with good amounts of white space.

Illustrations and text alignment (right side) also seems to be emulating the appearance of a magazine. Graphics and the way that they are arranged adds to the idea that you are looking at a quality Web design right out of the pages of a better magazine.

Grids are another format that is appearing in Website design. Its use is rather limited, and it is rarely seen in corporate Websites. It is seen mostly in portfolios and various product pages.

Baytech Web Design can help you put any Web design style you want into your Web page. Our professionals have given companies of all kinds a style they can proudly call their own. Talk to us today and let us put you ahead of the competition.

Media Blocks

Filed under: Media Blocks, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 11:29 am

Another powerful tool put to growing use in the past year is that of various media blocks. Now that more people have access to broadband, it only makes good Web design sense to take advantage of movies and screencasts to present the right information to their visitors.

Movies allow the Website owner to be able to present information in a guided way that does not permit distractions as long as it is running and the sound is on. This gives the owner the opportunity to highlight the key facts and reasons for either a purchase or to sign-up for more information.

Media blocks provide a unique tool in that it makes it unnecessary for the user to do anything but watch the carefully designed presentation. All you need to do is to design it to immediately grab attention, making them want to watch what you have to say to them. This makes it a powerful tool for use in any e-commerce Web design.

You may also want to add some text – just in case the sound is turned off. That way, they can still get your main message. Be sure to keep it as short as possible, because you may catch them at a time when they are busy and will not stay long to hear your message.

It is also a good idea to have other pages present the same information – but in a low tech way. Many people still do not have broadband and they will need to be able to read your important message.

Introduction Title

Filed under: Introduction Title, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 10:04 am

One more recent addition to Webpage design is the use of large introduction blocks. These blocks are most commonly added to the upper left hand side of the Webpage, where most people will naturally see them first and the message contained in the block.

Large introduction blocks are now becoming increasingly common and they seem to be working well. The fonts containing the message can be large, too, at least a 24. This makes it easily readable and if done with the right colors, can also provide an appealing part of the quality Web design.

The boxes themselves can often be large – at least 250 by 400 dpi. This is certainly large enough to be seen instantly. In many cases, they may even be larger than that.

Introduction blocks are appearing most frequently on pages for E-Commerce Web design, portfolio pages, and various services pages. Blogs do not appear to be using them yet.

You may want to start experimenting with introduction blocks and see what effect they have in getting your primary message across to your visitors. Make it a matching and obviously deliberate part of the page scheme and it may work well.

Another option would be to let us develop a professional introduction block for you. We regularly provide quality Web design for many companies and can give you the professional quality you want. PNG Transparency

Filed under: Branding — Baytech Web Design @ 9:53 am

Another Web design style that is becoming more popular this year is called PNG transparency. While problems have prevented a wide-spread use in the past, it seems that they have largely been overcome and it is rapidly being grabbed up by those who know it is available.

PNG transparency enables a Website design to have various portions of a Webpage partially show through, creating an excellent background effect, but still enabling the focus to be where you want it. It allows many more options and provides a better and more professional look than was possible before.

Instead of using some generic design as a background, the PNG transparency can let you add a picture or graphic of some kind as the background. This gives it a sharper look, enabling it to adapt some of the appearance that a quality magazine might offer.

Some of the more common uses of PNG transparency in quality Web design are the use of it in the header or in a box containing text laid on top of another graphic. Some use it in buttons for their Website navigation, or in a box that enlarges over another. It certainly provides a great new look, and it is one that you may want to add to your Website.

One significant problem with PNG transparency is that only more up to date Web browsers can display it without problems. While Firefox utilizes it correctly, IE 6, a few others, and especially older versions make a real mess of it. It was these problems that up until this year had prevented a wide use of it. IE 7 corrects the problem.

Baytech Web Design can put the hi-tech into your Website and make it stand out. Our professional team of Web designers can build you a winning Website that will make others envious. Talk to us today and let us get started for you.

Font Replacement

Filed under: Design & Branding, Font Replacement, Web Design — Baytech Web Design @ 1:19 pm

One more new development in Website design is the appearance of new fonts. Traditionally, there have been only a few fonts that were widely used, such as Times Roman, Arial, Helvetica, and a couple more. Now it’s changing.

With the development of sIFR (Scalable Inman Flash Replacement), new fonts can be displayed without them even being on the viewer’s computer. This allows the Website designer the option to use most any font – and it will still appear correct in most browsers.

So far, it appears that the new use of fonts is not being used just for the sake of having a new font. What appears to be the case is that the fonts are being selected because they best fit in with the style being used in the Website structure.

This allows the new fonts to make an even better Web design, and care is being given – so far – to ensure that the style best suits the material on the page. This seems to be a good development that allows designers greater choices in the use of fonts, and still keeps it simple enough so that many people can quickly learn how to apply the coding – which is not difficult at all.

Baytech Web Design is ready to enable your Website to use the new sIFR. Talk to us today about giving your Website a brand new look with hi-tech design features.
